A visit to the Orchidarium

Nov 9 was a day to tour around Estepona, one of the places we visited was the Orchidarium.  There were orchids of size, shape and color, and despite the season being almost over, there were still plenty of flowers to see.

Datura or "Angel's Trumpet"  very fragrant

a type of "Pitcher Plant"  a carnivorous plant that gets its nourishment by trapping insects and small animals in it's tubular  structure

Some flowers were so tiny you needed a magnifying glass to see them - the flower here is sitting in the middle of the leaf

White Floss Silk Tree sometimes known as the Drunken Tree - the seed pods of this family of trees produce kapok, which we used to see as filling in winter jackets

the bark of the tree looked like it has barnacles all over it

the tree was in bloom with lots more to come

Loaded orange trees on our way back to our car
