Once again we had good location, across from a park and
within walking distance of downtown
a german Christmas Market was set up along the main
pedestrianized street
the carousel was there
chocolates shaped like tools, gears, horseshoes , tires, etc.
even a camera - as I am taking a picture of her wares, the
shop owner picks up a chocolate camera and says
"You take my picture, I take your picture"
then we went into a mall, and there are the tools again, this
time some of the silver coated - even had hooks, faucets,
chocolate salami rolls and chocolate cheese
what is that above the tower?
why it's Santa, making a trial run
in Canada we have the Dollar Store, in Englnd they have ......
Bell ringers
The anchor from the QE 2, Southampton was it's home port
Church of the Holyrood, erected in 1320, was known as the
sailors church for centuries, and served as a church until 1940 when it was bombed by German forces. Since then it has been preserved and
dedicated as a memorial and garden of rest to the
members of the Merchant Navy
who served and lost their lives at sea
Memorial fountain dedicated to those lost in the Titanic disaster
period houses - not sure of the exact dates of these, but there are several buildings that date to the 13th to 15th century in the area
this seemed out of place in England, should be in Alberta or Texas
our hotel is the tall building
after supper, we went to see a live theater presentation of
Wind in the Willows at the Mayflower Theater, again,
within walking distance of the hotel
on our walk home we past this memorial to the officers of the Titanic - Southampton was the ships home port
